92 years old and still going strong, Christiane Bardot lives today in a retirement house in Marseille. Over her ninety-two years of life, she has seen the world evolve.
Born in Marseille on February, 8th, 1933, Christiane Bardot grew up with World War II through the bombings and the release of her city.
After this, her life was happier between her language studies and her meeting with her husband Edouard. While the world changed, she became mother, then grandmother and great-grandmother, realizing the society’s evolution over generations. Her last son describes her as a strong woman with great sensitivity and understanding.
A sensitivity reflected in her passion for classical music. However, she noticed the decline of this kind of music: “I love Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin but today young people are listening to modern music,” she explains. Similarly, the famous sports today are not the same as postwar. She notices that today’s sports grew up from the eighties especially.

Furthermore, Christiane has known the technological revolution which transformed all the economy. She witnessed the arrival of the radio and the TV, the new ways of transport and the digital revolution. She has always seen them as a “very good thing” and has used most of them. For instance, she remembers having tried the “almost first wireless” but has never wanted to travel in a plane. Nevertheless, the biggest change was the Internet. “I was slightly curious,” she confesses, “but adapting was difficult”. “That is a part of progress and thanks to that, life is easier,” she admits.
Christiane emphasizes that “It was not better back then”. Actually, she stays optimistic: “When I will pass the torch, the world will keep shining thanks to new generations”.
